okay, so our lips need more TLC than we think... for that reason, i’m writing this post to share with you my favorite lip products to enhance your lip game. if you’re looking for lipstick shades, this is not the post for you 😳 (sorry!). to make it easy for you, i categorized my favorite products into five main sections: lip exfoliators, lip conditioners, lip balms, lip plumpers, aaand lipglosses (because matte was so 2018). without further ado:
vital because: just like skin anywhere else, your lips need proper exfoliation to rid of dead, dry and unwanted skin. lip scrubs work to create a visibly (overall) smoother and softer look. like your other skincare products, try to stay on the paraben-free bus. alternative: try a quick DIY lip scrub at home using brown sugar, touch of olive oil (or coconut oil) & honey.
vital because: after a good exfoliation, you need to make sure that you’re feeding your skin the proper nutrients it needs by moisturizing. lip conditioners help lock in moisture and can double as a primer for your lipliner/lipstick.
vital because: you’re on the run, and ain’t nobody got time for all that 🙄 no, seriously. some days we just don’t have the time to line our lips, and color in the lines with lipstick. use balm/chapstick daily to make sure your lips are getting the hydration & moisturizing they need. if you need something a little more bold, try a tinted balm. and most importantly, try to find a balm with SPF!
vital because: we weren’t all blessed with big, beautiful, plump lips. yeah, i think that’s about it. lip plumpers are a great alternative to injections if you want to create the illusion of bigger, bolder lips. side note: plumpers usually give you a tingly sensation, so if you’re not into that whole feeling, proceed with caution!
vital because: well for starters, as i mentioned earlier, matte was so 2018! 😂 lipgloss is a great alternative to lipstick, and i think we all underestimate the power of a good lipgloss. adding shine and depth, lipgloss can help create a bolder and “bigger” look. to create a stronger and smoother look, make sure you’re moisturizing with either lip conditioner or chapstick before applying lipgloss. i know you’re thinking this is soo obvious, but you’d be surprised at how many times you’ll forget to condition your lips before application.
so, what’ya think— your lips need their own routine, eh? just like the skin on the rest of your face, your lips need special attention! and don’t forget— there are plenty of alternatives to make your lips look softer and plumper without having to inject them 😨
on last note: drink lots of water.
